Anti-Trafficking: Networking Anti-Trafficking Efforts across the European Union
The People for Change Foundation & the Centre for Business Network Analysis, University of Greenwich
This project applies network analysis techniques to anti-trafficking efforts across the European Union. In so doing, it seeks to understand and map the myriad of connections that underpin efforts to prevent human trafficking, prosecute traffickers and protect trafficked persons. Network analysis provides a tool for mapping and measuring the relationships between the various organisations, stakeholders and individuals involved in this work and provides a visual and a mathematical analysis of these relationships. In so doing, it helps us understand these networks, build on their strengths whilst mitigating any potential weaknesses.
The objectives of this project are to:
By doing so, this project will inform and support the development of stronger networks, which cut across current disciplinary or national boundaries and which will help improve anti-trafficking efforts and increase their efficiency. The overarching aim is to contribute to the strengthening of efforts to combat human trafficking with a view of eliminating this grave yet persistent human rights violation.

The objectives of this project are to:
- Understand and map existing networks and partnerships
- Contribute to the existing debate on the nature of the anti-trafficking efforts
- Identify scope for strengthening existing networks and partnership and developing new partnerships

This is exploratory research that will assess the value of this assessment to anti-trafficking efforts as well as identifying areas for further research. The first phase of the project looks primarily at anti-trafficking partnerships as they come together in the context of European Union funded projects. We hope to identify patterns of partnerships depending on the type of project and the nature of the organisations, as well as highlighting the positive outcomes of connections between organisations which cross disciplinary and other boundaries.
The partnership for this project brings together 2 organisations that are playing leading roles in their respective fields. The Centre for Business Network Analysis at the University of Greenwich is a UK and global leader in the area of business network analysis whilst The People for Change Foundation has extensive experience and expertise in anti-trafficking work.
