Malta Human Rights Scholars Network

The Malta Human Rights Scholars Network is an informal gathering of scholars – both accomplished experts as well as advanced students – studying human rights issues in Malta. The objective of the network is to develop the academic field of human rights through the sharing of information, writing, analysis and events.

Membership

Membership is free and open to:
  • Academics and researchers working in the field of human rights in Malta or abroad, with a particular interest in human rights in Malta
  • Graduate Student (Postgraduate diploma, Masters degree, PhD) in human rights
  • Graduate student (as above) in a subject closely related to human rights (social science, humanitarian aid, law) where you are able to demonstrate a keen interest and academic specialization in human rights (for instance through writing of a dissertation in human rights, etc)

Network Structure

The network utilizes:
  • A mailing list
  • A facebook group
  • An academia.edu page
Once you have been approved as a member of the network, you will automatically be added to the mailing list and will be invited to join the facebook group and the academia.edu page.

Opportunities

We will be sharing, and we hope that you will too, opportunities to attend and present research at conferences and panels with a thematic focus on human rights, as well as job opportunities in the field of human rights in Malta as well as elsewhere.

We will also be promoting the independent work of network members by publishing it on our website, making it accessible to other researchers.

If you are an advanced scholar or academic in the field of human rights we will also consider your candidacy for future Foundation tenders and projects.

Interest Groups

As the network grows, and on the basis of members’ requests, we would like to create interest groups on specific themes and topics, particularly in relation to different human rights issues in Malta.
