The FETE Project is being implemented in Denmark, France, Italy and Malta and brings together local enterprises and young immigrants through internship programmes of three months on a part-time or full-time basis. The aim of this project is to raise awareness on the positive impacts of migration and workforce diversity, empower young immigrants and help to build a more inclusive society.
The first phase of the project is being carried out in Malta between January and June 2015 by the People for Change Foundation (PfC) and will involve15 young people from non-EU-countries. The participants will be given the opportunity to undertake an internship to gain work experience in Malta, improve their soft skills, contribute to the work of local organizations, enterprises and businesses, carry out small scale projects that are beneficial for the local community as well boost their own careers and personal development.
The participants will undergo seven days of training through workshops focussing on skills such as teamwork, networking and communication. The participants will be trained to continue building bridges between the local community in Malta and becoming “Ambassadors for Diversity and Youth Empowerment."Participants will able to either attend a full-time internship consisting of six to seven hours a day, four days a week for three months or a part-time internship of six to seven hours, one day a week for three months. They will be under the guidance of a mentor who will provide the interns with assistance and support throughout.
We are looking for:
· Motivated and ambitious young migrants between 18-30 years old,
· Individuals keen to work and learn in an intercultural team, gain entrepreneurial and professional skills and work experience in the Maltese labour market,
· Migrants born outside Malta and the EU who are currently living in Malta for more than 12 months.
On completion of their internship participants will receive a certificate and a job reference highlighting the skills and competences obtained through the experience. Additionally participants have the opportunity to take part in intercultural exchanges in Malta and Denmark in 2015 and 2016 respectively. Here young people living all over Europe will be trained on diversity, cultural understanding and facilitation, with the aim to become ambassadors that further spread the ideas developed in the FETE projects within their local communities.
Local companies, social enterprises and organisations, who are interested in hosting a young migrant to join their team for three-months, will benefit from the abilities and expertise of international interns, gain global perspectives and add diversity to their workforce. In joining the FETE Malta project, local enterprises will also have the chance to contribute to the development of a labour market inclusion strategy for young migrants in Malta.
PfC will be then develop a best practice model for the successful inclusion and empowerment of young migrants. This will be developed in close dialogue with Maltese civil society organizations, local stakeholders and migrants. In cooperation with three partner organisations in Denmark, France and Italy, the locally developed inclusion strategies will be used to create an EU-wide inclusion strategy based on the research findings that will also be used in other countries.
