YouthMetro was set up in late 2007; it is the Youth Institute within the People for Change Foundation, an organization based in Malta, EU, and composed of six specialized institutes.

YouthMetro is resource-based. It sets out to provide resources to young people seeking ways to get involved in civil society.

It also has a strong focus on policy, both on a national as well as an international level.

The areas set here are those established by the international community as Priority Areas and Additional Priority Areas. Moreover, due to their relevance, Disability and Indigenous Issues are added.

Young people are vital stakeholders in society.

Yet we face uncertainty, lack of social and economic resources; and although over half of the world’s population is aged under 25, we are still the largest under-represented group in the world.

80% of media attention on youth is negative.

Developed states are faced with an emerging paradox – we are presented with ageing societies; yet we know that unless we invest in young people, we will risk stagnation, to the detriment of the knowledge societies we aspire to.
